Let's talk transformation

 Let’s consider two instances.

  1. You’re on the beach in Goa with friends, with your favourite drink in your hand, sunbathing, reading a book, or feeling the breeze, or simply having a conversation with a friend. You get a call from someone that tells you that your best friend met with an accident. Now, will that view or that breeze or the waves at the beach matter to you or make any difference?

  1. You have a really important job interview. You gave your best shot, you’re waiting for the result, and after a long day of waiting, biting your nails, and pacing around the room, you get the result which says you’re not selected. Just a few moments later, you get a call from your father and he says that your grandmother has been discharged from the hospital and she’s well and healthy.

What did you notice in both the scenarios? What changed?

Forget about the events or the changes in your mood. I believe we can conclude that no matter what’s happening on the outside, it’s our state of mind that decides how we feel and behave.

The quality of our life depends on the state of our mind.

Now how do we improve or stabilize it? More the reason we should because it seems to be getting affected by anything and everything around it.

And we suck at giving it instructions.

"Don’t get stressed!"

"Don’t get anxious!"

"Don’t get angry!"

"There’s no use feeling this way!"

"There’s no use yelling at this person!"

But our mind doesn’t exactly know what we’re asking for it to do?

So, what do we do to improve our state of mind?

Improving our state of mind means being able to handle stress, loneliness, and depression; 3 prominent problems that GenZ is facing.

Let’s talk about the ‘How’s now.

Only two simple steps.

Step 1. Awareness.

Are we aware of our state of mind?

If that’s a yes, half the problem is solved.

We carry so much garbage in our minds that it gets accumulated every single day and we don’t clear it out as often.

All we need to do is take a step back and observe.

Step 2: Action

Consistent and Committed action.

Only after awareness can there be action.

What kind of action are we talking about?

Physical exercise:

A healthy physical exercise helps bring a long-lasting pleasant state of mind because our body and mind are connected strongly.

Meditation:

Let me clear the myths that meditation is only for monks, old people, or those who are fed up with life.

It’s a scientifically proven method that’s been used for decades to help improve physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Virat Kohli, Rashi Khanna, Emma Watson, Hugh Jackman - They’re all meditators.

Now, the last practical equation looks like this:

Awareness + Action = Transformation
