Fear and Pain

Image
If we look at it, fear has only a single root cause. Pain. We’re afraid of getting hurt.  Even the biggest fear, the fear of death, is because of the pain it brings us.  The pain may not always be physical, but any pain still counts as pain.  If we look at any instance that made us worry, scared, anxious, or terrified, it has something to do with pain.  That exam you thought you might fail, that presentation during which you thought you might be laughed at, that job interview that you wanted to pass so bad, that time when you spent sleepless nights worrying about the health of a family member, all these instances caused fear in you because if they turned real, they would cause you immense pain. Be it physical, emotional, psychological, or mental.  Knowing fear is really important because once we get to know the real nature of it, it redirects us to the root cause.  Now, why are we scared of pain? Of course, because we don’t like pain. I mean, who in ...

The biggest enemy of human race

Image
In my last post, I talked about being able to improve our state of mind with awareness and action.  Let’s delve a little deeper into the same topic. As humans, all the problems we need to solve every single day has a common component.  They stress us out.  If I were to show stress as an equation, it would be something like: Lot to do + Short time + No/Little Energy  = Stress Well, at least this is stress in the context of a professional scenario.  If we can handle stress, We can make informed decisions. We can build resilience and stay cool. We can stop reacting and start responding. We can save our physical and mental health. But we can't exactly increase the time we have.  All of us have 24 hours in a day and 7 days in a week.  Can we extend our deadlines or increase the time limit for the taks? Sometimes yes, sometimes no.  It's in the energy levels we carry all the difference lies.  How can we increase our energy? Several ways, but let's...

Let's talk transformation

Image
Let’s consider two instances. You’re on the beach in Goa with friends, with your favourite drink in your hand, sunbathing, reading a book, or feeling the breeze, or simply having a conversation with a friend. You get a call from someone that tells you that your best friend met with an accident. Now, will that view or that breeze or the waves at the beach matter to you or make any difference? You have a really important job interview. You gave your best shot, you’re waiting for the result, and after a long day of waiting, biting your nails, and pacing around the room, you get the result which says you’re not selected. Just a few moments later, you get a call from your father and he says that your grandmother has been discharged from the hospital and she’s well and healthy.  What did you notice in both the scenarios? What changed?  Forget about the events or the changes in your mood. I believe we can conclude that no matter what’s happening on the outside, it’s our state ...

I'm afraid

Image
I'm afraid. I'm afraid of a lot of things. Many things trigger my anxiety in an instance. I see no way around when fear consumes me. It's easy to say, "embrace your fears," but they burn you out. The closer you get to them, the more you get burnt. Embrace them? It is like embracing fire. A lot of things in this world... No, no. A lot of significant things in this world happened because of fear and a lot of things which could've changed history did not happen, thanks to fear.  Fear - A strong feeling that clouds the intellect and limits one's capabilities. I tell myself a thousand times that fear will not change the outcome, or do me any favour, but I end up falling in it's trap. Every single time I tell myself I'm strong, I'm not afraid of something, the more I'm with it and the more fear I experience. Fear of loss, failure, a future happening, a certain circumstance, a past memory occuring in the mind, so many things that I can't count...

Bored?

Image
Boredom is a part of life, or, should I say, inevitable part of life? Because life runs on repetitions. We have day after a night and the same night after the day. We eat three times a day, a limited number of food items for breakfast, lunch and dinner. In fact, sometimes the same breakfast even the next day. We barely eat those same 10-11 items that we know to cook or that are available, in the course of time. I think all of you must be already aware of this inevitable phenomenon of our mind. We hate REPETITION! Our mind wants something new everyday. Almost every moment. We start off with certain subjects to study and if we are intelligent, it won't take any long for that subject to lose its charm. We take up a job, won't take much time for our mind to get used to the same boring work and we end up looking for something new already. Same happens with anything we want to do in life. But I wonder. Recently, I've joined a team (Team Ananda) of dynamic people who conduct wor...

Believe it!

Image
You can either whine, complain and cry about the obstacles you face in life or dream and take charge to be in such a position where you can completely change the circumstances. Believing in yourself that you can do what you want in life when nobody around you are even aware of who you are, what you are capable of. Not even yourself. Even though if you are hated by everyone, even though everyone disrespects you, having a positive attitude and approach towards what you want to do about it is the whole thing that matters. Lately, I finished binge watching this anime series, "Naruto" and if I say that it was incredible, that's absolutely nothing that would describe it. As far as I understood there are so many ingenious takeaways from the series. Coming to the story, Naruto is a child in whom a demon fox's spirit is sealed for the sake of the protection of his village. Without mother and father, he spends his childhood experiencing the wrath of hatred from everyone in his ...

Efforts

Image
Hey people! I know it’s been so long since I have written any blog post. A few events that I encountered in my life made it inevitable for me to write this post. When I first fell in love (it was long ago by the way), it was strange and so new to me. I started to experience the world so differently (including the butterflies in my stomach). All the care, checking up, hours and hours of stalking, considering her feelings every step of the way, ensuring I’m available every minute, surprising her with everything that she loves, making her feel immensely special, taking care of her when she’s sick, being the best company that she could ever have. She thanked me telling me that I’ve been putting a lot of efforts lately and that it requires a lot of patience as well as time. I didn’t understand why she was calling them “efforts” back then. Everything that I encountered this lockdown made me realise that efforts are so very important.  In a relationship, the beginnings are always g...
