Uncertainty

What is not uncertain in life? You never know when you are going to leave your body and say good bye to the world. The person who was your enemy yesterday can become an amazing friend to you today. Just think about it. Did we ever imagine that we will be saving the world today just by sitting in our homes!? Absolutely not. Know it or not, the only certain thing about life is uncertainty. You never can predict the next moment. You never know the next step of your path. You never know what your mind will be occupied with after an hour or two.

I sleep with a lot of plans for the next day and wake up in the morning with a severe headache and it’s all gone. The uncertainty of life, the mystery of life, is the mechanics of life. In my journey through life, I learnt a few things. Either we can brood over the uncertainty or accept it and take it to its wholeness. There is a famous quote.

“Do not try to calm the storm. Be there and let the storm pass.”

Just like that, all that we can do is to let the stream flow and not try swimming against it. Trying to swim against the stream never stops its flow, neither will it take us somewhere. There are definitely going to be several turns in which we will all have choices to make. In fact, that is how I define destiny. As, “The whole bunch of choices created in front of us as a result of the choices we make.” Sounds a little complicated? Here, let me simplify it. If you choose to sow an apple seed, the destiny is that you will grow an apple tree. If you choose to take biology and MBBS further (the choice you made), you will be treating patients (the destiny that is supposed to fall in place). But even this destiny will be affected by a lot of alternative choices which are made in the course of time. The same bricks and the same colours can make a thousand different models of a house. The difference is just the choice of their arrangement. The only two things I found out can pave a way through this uncertainty by accepting it is simply being there. Right this moment, there are no obligations or restrictions. There are certainly a few things in life which we do not want to compromise on and our mind wants to be certain about them. But we sure are not that gross to expect certainty to do certain stuff, right? While creating Facebook, Mark might not have even thought of how what he was going to create will change the world. Every second of his work, every attempt in which he failed were the real measure of the uncertainty he went through. He was there and above all, he did not give up.

Standing there and giving my everything to what I love is what matters to me in the end. A flowing stream is always beautiful and lively. Wherever it takes us, we can choose to flow with it and make our choice to turn where we want to when we see a choice.
